PTSA Reflections
The 2023-24 theme is "I AM HOPEFUL BECAUSE....."
It’s a new school year and a new theme for Reflections. The arts are a vital element of a complete education. Reflections is a National PTA art recognition program that encourages students of all ages and abilities to experience the benefits of creative expression to tell their unique story and have their voice heard. One of the benefits of being a PTSA member is your student can enter the Reflections art contest!
Students who enter can receive prizes and recognition for their art. Approximately 20% of students who participate at our campus will advance to the North East Council of PTAs Reflections level where they will compete with students from other North East schools. Some students may advance to Texas PTA and then on to National PTA Reflection levels.
Johnson High School students who plan to submit artwork for Reflections, please visit the Texas PTA website by clicking on this link https://www.txpta.org/reflections-participation or by pasting it in your browser to learn more about this year’s Reflections program. Both English and Spanish entry forms and rules are available on the website.
Each entry must be the original work of the participating student and created based on this year’s theme, Show Your Voice! Please include three copies of the entry form with your artwork submission. Please note that a good artist statement about how your piece relates to the theme is an important part of your entry form and part of what judges consider when evaluating your work.
Students can participate in any of or all the following arts categories:
Entries are due by October 31, 2023, students can turn in their Reflections entries in the library. There will be a bin specifically for Reflections entries. Some teachers will be accepting entries and artwork from their students. Make certain to fill out the entry form completely and include three copies of the entry form with your submission. Students can submit multiple pieces of art. For questions about this year’s Reflections, please email Tracy Hennigan at [email protected]
