Each year, the Johnson PTSA offers two $1000 scholarships to senior high school PTSA members who plans to attend college.
The 2025-2026 scholarship application will open in February 2026. The application is due on Friday, March 6, 2026.
Requirements
Must be a PTSA member (you can join here) - membership will be verified before the interview process begins.
Must be a member of the current senior class
Must have a scholastic record satisfactory to the committee
Must plan to continue his/her education at a higher learning facility
Qualifications and Application Packet
Applicant should demonstrate good citizenship, integrity, dependability, service to others and leadership.
The applicant packet must include the following: a completed application form, a current personal photograph, GPA and rank (verified by counseling office, allow 3 days for verification), a written or typed essay stating (in 500 words or less) why you are applying for the scholarship, future plans and goals, and what have your experiences and personal involvement in JHS and the extended community taught you and how will you apply that in the future.

In the event that one of the above members has a student applying, an alternate must be appointed. Alternates may be the JHS PTSA Secretary, JHS PTSA Parliamentarian or JHS PTSA Blossom Scholarship Chair.
Interviews
The selection committee will interview a limited number of applicants that turn in a completed application packet by the deadline. Selected applicants will be contacted by the counseling office as to their appointed interview date and time. In the event that more than one applicant scores evenly, the line breaker shall be dependent on the volunteer service portion of the application.
Scholarship Awards
The scholarships are a one time payment given directly to the student prior to the student attending their chosen institute of higher learning. Due to the fact that it is a one-time payment, future transcripts are not obtained. Awarded students receive written notice of their award at the conclusion of the interview process. Non-awarded students will be notified by mail.
