The Virgil T. Blossom scholarship is awarded by the North East Council of PTAs to NEISD graduates who plan to enter the teaching profession. Seven $5000 scholarships - one from each high school - are awarded each year. The scholarship is paid out $625 per semester over 8 semesters.

Donations can be made to the Virgil T. Blossom scholarship as an honorarium, memorial or as a thank you to someone who has contributed to NEISD’s quality education programs. Applications for this scholarship are due by January 31st at midnight. Interviews will be scheduled in February 2026, and the Johnson winner is asked to attend an awards ceremony on March 17. 2026
